Chainsaw art by the inspirational Mark Sidders live at Bloomsburys. This man can carve the most extraordinary art using just a chainsaw. It has to be seen to be believed! We got the tree, he does the work, live in front of you! This is an early photo of what will become a Dolphin. It reminds me of when Michaelangelo was asked how he carved a horse from stone. He replied – “I look at the stone, and remove what doesn’t look like a Horse!!” And yes, we will be stocking this unique and beautiful work, reluctantly to sell to you!

May 3, 2010Chocolate And Beetroot Cake
March 28, 2010During the war, chocolate and cocoa were in very short supply the sweet ration was 12oz a month per person. Beetroot was considered a sweet alternative for chocolate. This cake is a wonderful opportunity to feel healthy whilst eating chocolate at the same time.
300g (11oz) cooked and peeled beetroot.
3 large eggs.
80g(3oz) good cocoa ( we use green and blacks).
200ml (7fl oz) sunflower oil.
Pinch of salt.
200g castor sugar.
180g ( 6oz) flour,
3 tsp baking powder.
Method
Mix the beetroot, eggs, sunflower oil and salt together in a blender, tip into a bowl, then add the flour, sifting it in with the baking powder and the cocoa, and then folding them altogether.
Place the mixture in a greased loose ring cake tin and bake in a pre heated oven at 150degrees (300 F, gas mark 2) for about 50 minutes, or until the knife comes out clean.
When cool, ice with chocolate icing. We like to decorate our beetroot cake with real edible flowers such as pansies.
